Panel Upgrades & 200 Amp Service

Older homes across HRM were wired for a fraction of the load a modern household puts on them. Add a heat pump, an EV charger and a hot tub to a 60 or 100 amp service and you run out of capacity fast. We upgrade you to a modern 200 amp panel — coordinating the service change, the permit and the inspection so you don't have to.

Generator Panels & Transfer Switches

Nova Scotia weather makes backup power less of a luxury and more of a plan. We install generator panels and transfer switches so the circuits that matter — heat, water, fridge, well pump — come back on safely and without back-feeding the grid.

New Construction Wiring

Full electrical for new builds, from the temporary service through rough-in to the final trim-out. We work to your builder's schedule, keep the rough-in tidy for the framer and insulator behind us, and plan the panel with room left for what you add later.

Renovation Electrical

Kitchens, basements, additions and whole-home refreshes. Renovation work is as much about what you don't damage as what you install — fishing wire through finished walls, keeping tile and trim intact, and leaving the space cleaner than we found it.

Heat Pump Wiring

Heat pumps are the single most common upgrade we wire in HRM. Whether it's a ductless mini-split or a central system, it needs its own properly sized circuit, a disconnect at the unit, and a panel with the capacity to carry it — which is often where a panel upgrade comes into the conversation.

Hot Tub & Spa Wiring

Water and electricity leave no room for shortcuts. Hot tubs need a GFCI-protected spa disconnect within reach of the tub but a safe distance from it, buried or protected feeders, and the right conductor size for the run. We install all of it to code and arrange the inspection.

EV Charger Installation

Level 2 home charging, installed properly the first time. We look at where you park, how far that is from the panel, and whether your service can carry the load — then install the charger or the outlet it needs, on its own dedicated circuit.

Troubleshooting & Repairs

A breaker that keeps tripping, an outlet that went dead, lights that flicker when the dryer runs — these are symptoms, not the problem. We trace the fault back to its actual cause and fix that, rather than swapping parts until the symptom goes quiet.

Common Questions

Before You Book

Most work beyond simple device swaps does — panel upgrades, new circuits, hot tubs and EV chargers all require a permit and an inspection in Nova Scotia. We pull the permit and coordinate the inspection as part of the job, so it isn't something you need to chase.

The usual signs are a full panel with no spare breaker spaces, a 60 or 100 amp service in a home that has since added electric heat or a heat pump, breakers that trip under normal use, or a plan to add an EV charger or hot tub. We can tell you for certain after looking at the panel — and we'll tell you if you don't need one.

Most residential panel upgrades are a single-day job, with the power off for part of that day. The exact timing depends on the utility disconnect and reconnect and on what we find behind the old panel — we'll give you a realistic window when we quote, not an optimistic one.

Yes. We come out, look at the job and give you a written quote at no charge and with no obligation to book. Diagnostic troubleshooting calls, where the work is the investigation itself, are charged for — we'll be upfront about that before we come.

We're based in Porters Lake and cover the Halifax Regional Municipality and the surrounding areas. If you're just outside, call and ask — we travel throughout the region and will tell you honestly if you'd be better served by someone closer.
